Prodromos, Theodore

Prodromos, Theodore
   Twelfth-century panegyrist, poet, and writer of romance (q.v.). He worked at the court of John II Komnenos and Irene Doukaina (qq.v.), becoming immensely popular. His romance Rodanthe and Dosikles is derivative in its plot, harkening back to a novel of the third century by Heliodoros of Emesa entitled the Aithiopica.
